Wen Jiabao, Premier of State Council, attended the 5th World Future Energy Summit Opening Ceremony held in Abu Dhabi on Jan.16 and made a speech.

 Wen Jiabao said that energy is material basis of supporting human civilization development and also the indispensable basic condition of modern social development. In recent years, green development has risen up luxuriantly around the world. The core is to reduce excessive consumption of energy resources so as to pursue comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of economy, society and ecology. For this reason, countries in the world have vigorously explored, so has China. We have energetically adjusted economic structure and intensified energy conservation and emission reduction; intensified policy support and accelerated development of clean energy; accelerated traditional industries reform and improved energy utilization efficiency; proposed low-carbon lifestyle and carried out green consumption. We have gone through a lot and pay so much, however, we will go on unswervingly.

 Wen Jiabao stated that countries in the world shall go into action further and make greater efforts together in order to reduce the troubles and inequality brought from energy resources problems. First, energy conservation and efficiency improvement shall be put in the first place so as to push forward conservation-minded production mode, lifestyle and pattern of consumption, besides, advanced technology shall be adopted to improve energy efficiency so as to build recyclable and sustainable national economic system with low input, high yield, low consumption and low emission. Second, renewable energy sources shall be energetically developed. Countries shall strengthen policy support and enlarge application scale so as to gradually lower the cost and increasingly replace fossil energy. Third, energy science and technology shall be vigorously promoted. Government shall invest more so as to boost project demonstration and industrialization of energy technological innovation. Developed countries shall provide and transfer technology for developing and underdeveloped countries on premise of protecting intellectual property. Fourth, energy security shall be guaranteed effectively. It can be considered to build a global energy market governance mechanism including energy supplying countries, countries of consumption and transit countries under framework of G20 and based on the principle of mutual benefit. The just, reasonable and binding international rules shall be formulated through consultation to build multilateral coordination mechanism of energy market, such as, forecast and early warning, price coordination, financial supervision, safety emergency response, etc, so that global energy market is safer, more stable and sustainable.

 Wen Jiabao said that China had respected independent choice of countries and people in west Asia and North Africa all along, and supported them to develop their economy depending on resource endowment and advantages. China will go on working with the people from countries in the world to strengthen international cooperation, push forward sustainable innovation, devote ourselves to developing future energy and build a green new world with sustainable development together.
